With the poor attendance at training, lack of atmosphere around the teams, many players looking to play elsewhere is Honley FC in danger of folding? Will the club be able to field 3 competitive teams next year? Will the first team be able to compete next year?
Does the solution lie in the need for Honley to move up to the West Riding County Am? They are getting left behind now? The standard of the Huddersfield League is poor. Any half decent young player is looking to play at a higher level then the District League now.
This is a serious issue.

the bottom line is how serious does the club want to be??
we have a good basis of decent players, most of who are in a footballing sense middle aged, and happy playing football whatever the standard
if there are players who can play at a higher standard and really wanted to, then they would have gone by now
this is a decent club which continiously challenges for trophies, albeit not at the highest standard, but who cares? who at the club really honestly believes themselves to be the next wayne rooney?
this is my opinion and not just some online rant, i'm more than willing to take this up with anyone in the club whether it be players, managers or comittee.

It isn't about being the next Wayne Rooney. It's about providing competitive opportunities for people who want to play for Honley FC.
The club is coming towards a crossroads in the immediate future. One decision could see the club drift aimlessly, where as the other decision could see the club maintain its level of competitiveness that has been the norm for the last twenty-odd years.
I think the club should take a serious look at moving up to the West Riding in the very near future.

I can see why 'Batts' would want Honley to take the step up. They 'have been' a competitive football club for the past 20 years, but at the same time, 20 years ago Wakefield (and Emley) were in the league as were the likes of Golcar, Meltham, Bay Athletic, Storthes Hall and Kirkburton. It is questionable as to whether or not some of the above mentioned clubs are any better than Honley but they are testing themselves week in week out in a higher status league. Honley have consistently been a top three club, GREAT! But whilst they have been consistently in the top three, the top three has consistently changed and moved on to better leagues/referees/linesman/facilities etc.. etc... They are now left to fight it out with the likes of Lepton, Heywoods (who themselves are applying for WR status) and Sovereign Sports. 20 years ago these clubs were not on the same playing field as Honley. So the question is........ Are it the Leptons, Heywoods, Sovereigns that have good better, or is Honleys standards slipping and the club getting left behind ? YOU DECIDE. Stitch - Yes the WR reserves is better

I'm all for the club moving forward in the right direction, the only worry was after sitting in on the agm, is that would it be a bit of a push on the financial side? also don't we need to own a pitch and have it roped off and stuff? not really up to date on that side of things I'd make a great west riding league ball boy you know..

From that list of First team you can deduct - Marcus (won't play first team), Scoffa (living in America), Miggy (playing for Brittania), Nuthouse (playing for New Mill). From the Maybees cancel Clarkey (not playing), G (playing for Kirkburton), Jimmy Green (won't play first team), Ally (quiting football).
That Leaves:
M. Turner Bowker Marsh Si Martin Devenish Woodworth Ricky Howe Terry Stitch Matty Hirst Nicky Lee Bert Steve Green
