The answer to Honley's problems are fairly simple . . . They need to look to the younger age groups . . . There are some top players at the younger Honley clubs and especially with the introduction of a new Honley under 16's there will be more youngsters to look at . . . Successful clubs such as Meltham do this and invite any young players down to training and give them equal chances to the rest of the players. Meltham have even had a lad aged 15 playing for their 1st team!! Its a simple solution it just depends on if someone can be arsed to do anything about it . . .

excuse me, 'ex honley player' how about you find something more constructive to do with your' time instead of polluting the forum with your negative views, it does nothing more than encourage bad feeling and backstabbing amongst the players, staff and comittee at the club
if you are so concerned, why don't you set up a youth team yourself if you love the club so much
and with regards to the 15 year old at meltham, he's probably a good player, but what the hell has that got to do with honley? what shall we do? all chip in to buy a trophy for him?
its a clean sheet for everyone this season, we're all pulling together and i thouroghly believe we will be in the hunt for trophies again this season

Now then, don't know who wrote the last but one comment (It wasn't me or Rich Bray (you would love it to be)). It doesn't come across as negative, more constructive. Which is more than can be said for the reply.
The 'loyal Honley' poster is burying their head in the sand. The club needs to have a link with the junior set it. This is the production line that would keep the club going in the future. There are a lot of people who dedicate a lot of time to the running of the club. I realise setting something up like this would be an extra burden. As would be looking to producing the facilities to progress the club onto the WRCA. Both things need doing though if the club is to be here and to be an attractive proposition in ten years time.
As for this season I hope that the club does well. Hopefully the players that have remained can create the spark that sees the smile put back on the face of the club. I would love it if they won something this season.

Seems to me that the only way that Honley is gonna die out is if everyone lets it. The same shizzle was happenin at Netherton a couple of years back, but you tighten your boots and wait for better times. Things'll blow over, and everyone has got to show that they've got a pair strapped on and work through it, instead of bemoaning the situation and just sitting back and watching. Jeez.

Nice one 'Brand New Honley Player' - Seems like you listened to your own advice "tighten your boots and wait for better times". So how did you manage that? Left and joined Honley?!?!!

If you'd read it proplerly, that happened 2/3 years ago. Now theyve won a cup and the 3rd team won their leahue. I left cos I'd been their since I was 15, and I haven't experienced other teams, and levels of playing. I didn't know folk from Meltham could read...

They might not be able to read but they can certainly play football, I know which one I'd rather do. Just realised something after 'reading' your reply, Netherton were in the doldrums a couple of years ago but are now a half decent outfit again, whereas this year the Honley teams are struggling. One common denominator?? Doesn't take a genius to work it out so you'll probably already know what I'm getting at.
