Allister, I always thought that you are a Huddersfield Town fan. Why do you care for the scallies from the Mersey?

I bet we win one more trophy than the scousers this year.
I must congratulate Peter Crouch on scoring, but I would also like to remind him, his manager and the scouse people in general that Liverpool are still a very poor side. Would any of Liverpool's strikers get anywhere near the starting X1 for the teams that they believe they should be competing with, ie Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc? I think not. And Liverpool also play terrible football, they should be ashamed of themselves.
I hate scousers.

I have to admit that I've made some glaring errors of judgment since taking charge. Selling Michael Owen was a biggy, as was buying Peter Crouch to replace him - what was I thinking?
In addition, the football that my side are playing is of a very low standard - and I have no idea why I have been playing one of England's best Centre Midfielders wide on the right.
Despite putting on a brave face in my interviews, and our extremely lucky result at the weekend, I am struggling to paper over the cracks. Liverpool will never be a dominant force again. Sorry.

We looked like 12-year-old boys today, not like grown men who have been playing all their life.
I'm afraid some players got shown up today.
When I first played in the first team seven years ago the team was full of leaders who told each other what to do, who to mark, where to play the ball. If you didn't do it as you should you got a fecking!! It was a nervous situation to be in but the standards were set. The standards we set ourselves at the moment are way way below par. Ask Rich Bray about the intensity of the first team back in the day, ask Bert Green about the standards and the expectations that he's been used to, ask Robin Woodworth about playing with players who would give you a fecking if you even thought about not picking up your man or putting a challenge in. Imagine playing with ten Wayne Beadsells. Not the most comfortable position to be in, but I tell you what you made sure that you did things right cos if you didn't you knew that no one on that pitch would let you forget about it. Sometimes you felt it was harsh, sometimes you felt it was unfair, sometimes you were scared to touch the ball and get involved. But when you had a job to do you did it fecking right. When you had a man to mark you fecking did it. When you had a clearance to make you got fecking rid. When you had a cross to put in you made sure that it was on target. And when it all went right it was all the more sweeter. And the people were there to congratulate you. Ask Tim Hirst, ask Martin Brooker. Those players who played against Meltham last season got a taster of what it used to be like. Compare that to today's appalling display. You earn the right to wear the shirt, but today there wasn't many players coming off the pitch who deserved to keep their place for next week.
All this talk about things being too negative on the pitch – I agree to some extent. But it usually comes about because players are consistently under performing. If you do your job and you do it right then no-one has anything negative to say.
If you think that Honley FC will ever win something with performances like today, if you think that your contribution to today’s game was acceptable, if you think that it's only a matter of time before it all comes together then you are absolutely deluding yourself. Someone needs to set the record straight. Players need to know some home truths. Am I being too harsh? Am I out of line? Is my rant out of order? I know what level this team can perform to. I know what level players in the past have performed to. And the moment we simply aren’t doing it.
Simply ask yourself if today your performance was good enough.
I know mine wasn't.

Batts,
Some of the points that you made are valid, but I don't necessarily agree with all of them. A lot of the things that you say, ie marking tight, picking up your man, clearing the ball, getting a foot in, seem to be with reference to the defence - as is I think your point about giving someone a f***ing. Fair enough, but where is the point about finishing chances? We were all culpable for errors in the game, and collectively as a team we have to take it.
In response to taking a f***ing, I agree, and that's not what I was saying on Saturday to Eddie and Steve. What I was saying was that Steve was right at half time - people weren't tight enough on their men, and the defense were mostly to blame. I think that people should be criticised when they do things wrong or under-perform. Yet in the second half I thought that we took that on board and were very tight with our men. In the first 10 minutes of the second half I made 3 challenges, which, if I'd missed them, would have meant that they were clean through on goal. Three people congratulated me on those tackles - Bowker, the referee and their centre-forward. The point that I was making, and the reason why I blew up during the second half when I though you were having a go at the defence was that it was fair enough to criticise at half time, but where is the praise when someone does something well?
Ultimately all players, no matter how good or confident they are, feel good and play better when they are praised for a good tackle, header, pass or goal. I try to praise, as well as criticise when necessary, as much as possible in a game, and I'm sure that the players who play around me have noticed that. I had a go at Ally in the first half when I felt he hadn't stepped up in time, but I praised him 5 minutes later when he won a good header. What I'm saying is, when you've had a b*llocking at half time for not doing something, and then you do your best to put it right in the second half, you shouldn't have to rely on the opposition and referee to tell you that you've done something right.
When I had a go at you in the second half I did so because I felt that you were letting off steam as you were frustrated that the team was playing badly, and that you did so in the direction of the backline. Ally had his man, I had mine, Spud had his and Scoff was the free man, ready to sweep behind the line. So from my point of view, you shouting at me to organise the defense looked like a slight at how it was organised, or else why shout it?
There's no point in dwelling on Saturday anymore now, we lost and that's that. At least it wasn't in the Cup - I think that we're all agreed that we'd rather win that, playing at the Galpharm, than win the league, and we've got a good opportunity to do so. So this is my 3 step suggestion to winning it:
1) EVERYONE who can get to training on Tuesday get there. If 6 people turn up it annoys the people who are there, who then make it clear they are p*ssed off, and makes those who didn't turn up feel uncomfortable on Saturday.
2) Be honest with each other and if we think someone is doing something wrong or speaking sh*te then tell them at the time. But also praise people when they do something good, create a bit of positivity around the team and give people the confidence to go out and win.
3) Forget what's happened in the last few months and start again. We only have to win 2 games in the Cup to be where we want to be, and we all know we're good enough. So let's get back to basics and start again.
That's it. I love you all.
