Batts, it wasn't a corner, it was a quickly taken free kick from me that Ally put in! Where are my two assists? (3 if you count playing an easy ball to you, only for you to slip and put Bert in) (4 if you count my massive challenge to deny them a goal scoring opp and win the ball, give a 'simple' pass to wayne who miss hit his pass to put in Bert for our 5th). COME ON - KEEP UP!!

Reports from Saturday
This was the fourth meeting of these two teams this season and the third to end all square. Honley were a little unlucky not to come away with three points. The home side dominated the second half but threw away the lead in the dying minutes through a defensive blunder. Wooldale keeper Pealove length was put under very little pressure in the first 45 only coming in to action to tackle at the feet of Martin put through by midfielder Storer. Wooldale took a half time lead with the only real effort on target at either end. Denton, whose strength in the air was a constant threat, headed on Coles free kick and Holmes reacted quickest to head the visitors in front. Honley stepped up a gear after the break and created numerous chances to win the game. Simon Martin stole in on the blind side to steer home a Battye cross shot to raise Honley’s spirits. The same player found room on the edge of the area and fired narrowly wide. Battye then got on the end of a Green clearance to hold off a defender and slot home for 2-1. Wooldale stayed in the game with two Pealove length saves from Battye and Bowker, a clearance off the line from Storer, and Green failing to make the best of a one on one. Wooldale claimed a penalty when the ball bounced on to Davies hand in the area and in a rare attack equalised when Wightman failed to hold a cross, being impeded by two of his own the defenders, and Denton picked up the pieces and tapped in to the empty net. In the final attack of the game Battye crossed for Davies to time his run perfectly but saw his header bounce off the crossbar leaving the visitors happy to run down the clock and claim a valuable point.
Honley seconds kept up their good run with a 5-1 win over Slaithwaite Res. Marsh opened the scoring with a 25 yard drive. Ricky and Terry Howe, Danny Knutton and Phil Rawnsley added the others.
Matt Hirst and Nicky Lee were on target for Honley’s thirds as they went down 4-2 at Diggle.

First team stats updated, as is Paul Storer's profile.
the match report for yesterday:
Honley advanced to the quarter finals of the league cup with a comfortable victory over Kirkheaton at Neiley playing fields.. The home side were two goals up in no time. In their first attack Battye brought the ball down in the box to fire home form 6 yards. Minutes later the same player picked up a poor clearance from a stranded keeper to lob the ball in to an empty net from the half way line. Honley eased up prematurely, again, and it could have been a different story if Wightman hadn’t dived to his left to keep out a penalty given for Delooze nudging a opponent in the back. Davies nearly added to Honley’s lead heading against the keeper from close range and putting the rebound inches wide. Kirkheaton were always a threat but failed to add a final punch. Manager Steve Green moved Bray back to strengthen Honley’s defence and the skipper put in a sound performance with centre backs Delooze and Turner to cancel out anything Kirkheaton threw at them. Minutes after the restart Battye created an opening down the right and rolled the ball along the 18 yard line for Storer to strike sweetly in to the top corner – a fitting reward for the midfielder’s all round performance on the day. Kirkheaton’s only decent chance in the second half was pushed round the post by Wightman coming out quickly to narrow the angle. Battye got his hattrick and Honley’s fourth from the spot after Woodworth had been brought down in the area. Full back Rowling completed the scoring running on to Storer’s through ball and volleying home despite the keeper getting a hand on the ball.
Honley’s second string also kept a clean sheet with a 3-0 away win at Heywoods. Once again the brothers Howe, Ricky and Terry, were on target along with Phil Rawnsley to strengthen Honley’s league position in Reserves Division one.
Honley’s third team lost one nil to Scholes seconds in Reserves Division two.
The club are holding a fundraising ‘Night at the Races’ at the Foresters tomorrow (Saturday) with proceeds shared between the club and the Cookridge Cancer Unit in Leeds. Any willing race sponsors please ring the pub or 662232.

Good report Batts/Tim. I have to agree with the verdict of an excellent all round performance from Storer (great game, only shaded for the MOM from hat-trick hero himself), but also well backed up by Bez and the rest of the team.
Let’s take it forward into the next game. One other thing that was pleasing was the fact that people seemed to enjoy the game straight from the kick-off. Let’s do the same next week.
COME ON!!!!
